Insurance: Policy Disclosures
Insurance Code Sections 10102, 10103
Consumers who buy homeowners insurance must be given a disclosure statement at the time of purchase or by mail if purchased over the phone. This disclosure explains the types of replacement coverage available.
This new law changes the disclosure statement. The new disclosure statement must clearly state whether the policy guarantees the cost of replacing or rebuilding the home in the event of catastrophic damage. This disclosure applies to homes and homeowners. It does not apply to tenant or renter’s policies, or condo policies where the actual building is not insured.
