Here comes the Judge!

DCA recently sponsored the annual California Consumer Affairs Association (CCAA) conference in downtown Los Angeles. The Keynote speaker at the conference was Judge Joe Brown. You may be familiar with Judge Brown. He is the presiding judge of the courtroom television show, Judge Joe Brown. Judge Brown uses a no-nonsense, plain-speaking approach when resolving his courtroom cases. He often uses humor and gives common sense advice such as, “Don’t lend money to people you barely know."

In Judge Brown’s inspirational keynote address, he stressed the importance of not just providing information to clients, but trying to make a difference in their lives. He emphasized this point with stories of real life situations he has dealt with on the bench. He concluded by answering questions from the audience about his life experiences and his illustrious judicial career.

CCAA is an association of local, state and nonprofit agencies that protect California consumers. DCA is one of the organizations’ founding members. The conference devoted a day to presentations and discussions on a variety of small claims topics including the new e-filing system which allows litigants to file their small claims case online.
