DCA HOSTS EVANS CONSUMER INFORMATION FAIR

Dozens of consumer organizations expected to attend free public event

The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs, in partnership with Evans Community Adult School, is hosting a 2009 Evans Consumer Information Fair on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 7th, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The fair is free and will be held at Evans CAS, located at 717 North Figueroa Street (at Sunset Blvd.) in Los Angeles. Evans is one of the largest adult schools in the country with a multi-cultural student population of over 15,000.

The theme of this year’s fair is “Nuts and Bolts: Tools for Today’s Economy,” said Pastor Herrera, Jr., Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs. “The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs and Evans Community Adult School invite teachers, young scholars, community based organizations, families and other interested individuals to learn about their consumer rights and the services of local, state, and federal consumer protection agencies,” Herrera said.

Agency representatives will distribute valuable consumer protection information and answer consumer-related questions. They will also make individual classroom presentations so that consumers do not become victims of marketplace fraud. The public is welcome to attend.
